A sense of community is developed out of generosity and people coming together. It can take many forms and whatever the interest, it is where the community spirit or character is shaped. No where else can this be seen to work so well than Belswan at Mandurah .

The personalities are as varied as the people, and whether it is our regularly sighted ground crew, out and about gathering up newspapers and recyclable cans, the ladies over at craft, the blokes building some benches and shelves for the community centre down at the work shop, or the efforts of our resident gardeners nursing their latest vegetable crop, everyone makes a different contribution.

It can be a hard working social club committee , some ready hands helping with the Sunday lunches, or the blokes at the barbeques whilst the ladies fix the salads. Someone calling in on a sick friend, offering an arm for a walk, or joining in the “ pet walk “ procession around the village parklands all allow people to give of themselves and interact with each other.

Sometimes community is just good humour and a few games of indoor bowls, snooker, or cards over at the main centre on a Saturday afternoon. Often, all of this, and more might be going on at the same time.

So then, what is the best feature of our community - the people who make it up!

Of course, this experience is not easily described unless you are a part of it - and to think that all of this is free!
